Flight: Prize-winning Film
The winner of Highlanes Gallery Inaugural Open Competition, Bernie Masterson's Flight, is a beautifully constructed study of movement in isolation. Bernie had been impressed by one of the dialogues in my book, Savage Solitude, and had recorded my reading of it a few years ago. Now it's the backing for this film, and she has made me very proud. The award is in honour of the great artist, Janet Mullarney, who died in April 2020. Bernie's film is influenced by Janet's winged sculpture.
